Psalm 81:1-16

Chapter 81
To the director, upon the Gittith, for Asaph. 1 Sing joyfully to God, our strength; shout to the God of Jacob. 2 Lift up a song and give the tambourine, a pleasant harp with the lyre. 3 Blow the shofar at the new moon, at the full moon for the day of our festival. 4 It is a statute for Israel, a judgment of the God of Jacob. 5 He appointed a testimony in Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt; I will hear a lip I did not know. 6 I removed his burden from his shoulder; his hands were free from the basket. 7 In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you from the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah. 8 Hear, my people, and I will testify to you, Israel: if you hear me. 9 There shall not be among you a foreign God, and you shall not bow down to a foreign God. 10 I am the LORD your God who brought you up from the land of Egypt; open wide your mouth and I will fill it. 11 And my people did not listen to my voice, and Israel did not obey me. 12 So I let them follow the stubbornness of their heart; they will walk in their own counsels. 13 Oh that my people would listen to me, Israel would walk in my ways! 14 Almost I would subdue their enemies, and upon their adversaries I would turn my hand. 15 Those hating the LORD would submit to him, and their time would be forever. 16 He would feed him with the fat of wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.
